Louis (Lou) M. Eftink
Lou is President of Design-Build Construction, Inc. and founded the company in 2002 with two partners, David Jones and Steve Gillespie. Lou has over 40 years of construction experience.
Lou is from the “Show-Me” state of Missouri, grew up near the city of Cape Girardeau and is a 1973 graduate of Notre Dame High School. He attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau and then moved to Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, where he studied Structural Engineering.
Lou’s construction experience dates back to 1974 where he began as a construction laborer and then as a carpenter. He worked on a variety of projects while living and going to school in the Manhattan area, including Housing Units at Fort Riley, New Barracks and Support Facilities at Fort Riley, and a Woolco Distributorship in Junction City, Kansas.
Lou went to work in 1978 for Hahner, Foremen, and Harness, Inc., a general contractor located in Wichita, Kansas, and remained there for the next 23 ½ years. He moved up the ladder quickly, and in 1984 became a project superintendent for projects ranging in size from $100,000 to $5,000,000.
In 1990 Lou moved into the office as project manager for the Building Systems Division and then became the manager of the Building Systems Division in 1992. Lou became the Vice President of the Building Systems Division in 1996 and remained in that position until he left the company in 2002 to start Design-Build Construction, Inc.
In addition to the Vice President position, Lou sat on the Board of Directors for Hahner, Foremen, and Harness, Inc. from 1996-2001. Lou was also elected to the Board of Directors for the Kansas System Builders Association for four years and was honored as its President in 2000.
With his extensive construction background, Lou and his partner bring over a century of successful experience to owner/developers, architects, engineers, and general contractors, as well as Design-Build Construction, Inc.’s existing client base to ensure successful project development, completion, and most importantly, satisfied customers.

David W. Jones
David W. Jones (Dave) is Vice President/Operations Manager for Design-Build Construction, Inc. and joined Lou and Steve in starting the company in 2002. Dave has over 35 years of construction experience.
Dave was born in North Carolina, but moved around often in his early years due to his father’s work. The family settled down in Red Wing, Minnesota long enough for Dave to complete junior high and graduate from Central High School there in 1975. Following high school Dave attended the University of Minnesota in Duluth, studying Wildlife Management.
Dave’s construction experience started in 1977 where he began work as a welder on the construction of nuclear power plants and then received extensive training in welding, construction safety, and management. Dave ended his nuclear career in 1986 as a welding supervisor responsible for 250 welders working on class one safety and related piping.
From 1986 to 1995 Dave worked in the commercial and industrial construction markets erecting and welding structural steel. At first, he erected steel for another company, and later started his own business erecting and welding structural steel. Projects during this phase included steel erection up to three stories high, as well as installing miscellaneous structural steel in buildings up to ten stories high.
In 1995 Dave accepted a position as a project coordinator for a general contractor in Raleigh, North Carolina, managing multiple projects in various stages of construction. In 1996 due to an illness in the family, Dave relocated to Kansas, became involved with several construction projects, and also did some insurance sales work.
In 1998 Dave was offered a job as a project manager with a general contractor in Wichita, KS. In this position Dave had numerous responsibilities, but most importantly, making sure that each project stay within budget and on schedule.
Since 2002, Dave has been an integral part of the Design-Build Construction, Inc. management team. As Vice President/Operations Manager he is always here early and stays late to make sure that the needs of our employees and customers are handled with the urgency and care they deserve.
