Bed Bath & Beyond
Structural Steel Subcontractor
Role: Subcontractor – Structural Steel
General Contractor: Key Construction
Design-Build Construction was selected as the subcontractor to set the structural steel for the new 68,000 square foot Bed, Bath & Beyond in the expanding Greenwich Corridor. This area has been making an increasingly positive contribution to the local retail economy for the last four or five years, and with the most recent additions of Academy Sports, Bliss Bouldering & Climbing Complex, World Market, and Buy Buy Baby, things are really taking off out there. This northeast area of Wichita has been growing rapidly with the construction of retail, education, and residential buildings.
On the Bed, Bath, and Beyond project, Design-Build Construction installed all of the structural steel components, which included the columns, beams, bar joists, metal decking, and structural steel tubes at the entryway. In this case, Design-Build Construction was required to work closely with the structural engineer because of changes to the fire sprinkler system which demanded on site, custom bar joist reinforcement. With all this going on, and under a tight and challenging deadline, the structural steel portion of the project was completed in twenty-two days.
