New Spring Church
Subcontractor - Structural Steel
Design-Build Construction was selected to provide the erection of the structural steel for the New Spring Church addition in Wichita, KS. The 39,000 square foot addition will house an overflow space for the sanctuary, an area for youth ministries, and a coffee bar. The addition was built off the northeast corner of the existing building.
While the structural steel was substantially completed in nine weeks, the overall project took about twelve months from start to finish. The structural steel erection included columns, beams, bar joist and decking, and also included the installation of steel subframes for the rooftop mounted mechanical equipment.
Design-Build Construction utilized their own truck crane and equipment for the project. Close coordination with the general contractor, before cutting into the existing building for the installation of new structural steel, allowed the church to remain operational and the project to stay on schedule.
